Skype which is a communication software for different platforms has released the full 2.8 version of its application for Mac OS X users.
Besides the main features of Skype which are free skype to skype calls, instant messaging, video calls, call phones and mobiles, send SMS and etc there are some great new features added to the latest version that includes:
Skype Access
This is a pretty nice feature and specially helpful for people who travel and use Skype. With this feature you don’t have to worry about trying to connect to public WiFi hotspots and punching your credit card numbers anymore. With over 100,000 supported hot spot locations you will just use your Skype Credits and pay per minute for the service.
Skype will just pop up a message letting you connect to internet in a public WiFi network (if supported) and charge you per minute on your Skype Credit. This is very useful when you just want to use the web for like 20 minutes and don’t want to pay for 1 hour as most of the WiFi hotspots would ideally charge you.
Screen Sharing
Now you can share your desktop screen for free with people you are connecting. You don’t have to type and explain what you are trying to say, simply share you screen and the person you are conversing with will be able to see how you use your screen.

One portion of websites that significantly affects the overall load time of a page is javascript code. Web browsers such as Firefox 3.5 and Safari 4 are paying major attention to enhance the javascript loading engines for faster user experience.
Moving all of the properly configured javascript code to the footer of a page can really enhance the page load time. Why?
When a browser loads a page, it loads the frames in a chronological order. Meaning the header (top of the page) loads first and then the rest of the page; so it is a good idea to move all the javascript code to the footer. Thats because if the code is located in the header, the browser will load it first before other page elements such as html, css and images show up.
The page will load at the same amount of time but the user will have the impression of  the page loading faster as the relevant visual elements show up first. Read the rest of this entry »

You know what’s very annoying? having to go to your site’s admin panel in order to fix a tiny mistake or updating a post with a one line sentence.
I am pretty sure you have been in the situation where you had to go back to edit your posts from the admin panel after you published it. The reasons are numerous; in my case it is very usual to make spelling mistakes.
I have always wanted to have the ability of editing my site’s content specifically published posts with some sort of maybe ajax powered plugin for faster speeds, but never came across one.
Today I will be sharing with you a free WordPress plugin that does exactly what I described above.

Besides the actual text content in a website which attract most of the traffic from search engines, one should not forget to optimize other active content such as videos and images. They have the potential of driving significant amount of targeted traffic.
In a recent incident with a quite popular fashion site which gets most of its traffic from search engines, it is quite crucial to know that some businesses rely on traffic from image search engines.
This blog receives more than 20% of its traffic from various image search engines, primarily Google. That is because I tend to take some time optimizing the images I post. I am not going to go into further details on how to optimize your image for better search engine rankings as there is already a handful of useful information posted by others which you can find by doing a quick Google search, however I am going to show you how I batch rename my images without the hustle of doing them manually to better rank for search engines (a major tip in image SEO is to rename your images to the keywords you are targeting). I love web apps specially the ones like Pingie which is a very useful and absolutely free to use service .
Pingie is a cool utility that lets you get notified via SMS whenever the sites you are subscribed to get updated. You basically subscribe to a site’s RSS feed and your phone works as the RSS reader. Read the rest of this entry »
