Bugatti Veyron VS EF-2000 Jet Fighter

Posted: June 30th, 2009 | Author:

The Bugatti Veyron priced at $1.7 million with a 1001 HP engine that can reach 100 MPH in only 5.5 seconds and top out 253 MPH is the car with the label “the fastest car in the planet”.

Here is the question: What happens when the Bugatti Veyron meets up with an EF-2000 Jet Fighter for a horizontal vs vertical drag race of 2 miles? Watch the video below to find out.

To be fair, here is how the race is plotted out: The car will race down the line for a mile, when it reaches the mile marker it will quickly turn as fast as possible and race back down to the start finishing line. Meanwhile, the plane will set off, and take off as quickly as possible to cover a mile straight up, when it’s done a mile it curves back straight down and make its way to cross the start finishing line. The last one to finish shall be labeled a “vegetarian”, as the guy in the video suggests.

How to Check Your Documents for Spelling and Grammatical Errors

Posted: June 28th, 2009 | Author:

Just wanted to do a quick update on a cool website I found that will help you check your text documents for any grammar or spelling mistakes. It is specially very helpful when you are doing a class project or an assignment and want to check for any errors, because in my experience the typical word processing softwares such as Microsoft Word are not always capable of pulling some mistakes. Or at least you don’t always have those softwares.

PolishMyWriting is a demonstration of AfterTheDeadline technology (technically a “better writing” software for different platforms) where you can just copy and paste your document or compose your own by typing into the text box provided and check your writing. Any spelling errors are highlighted in red, grammar suggestions in green and styling suggestion in blue.

Also, AfterTheDeadline has a free WordPress plugin that will help you improve your writing by checking for contextual spellings, grammar and advanced styling.

Pretty cool stuff! Thumbs up to the creators.

Burn Folders: The Fastest and Easiest Way to Burn CDs and DVDs on Mac

Posted: June 28th, 2009 | Author:

One of the most practical methods of backing up your digital data nowadays is to burn it to a CD (up to 700 MB) or a DVD (up to 4.7 GB). Mac OS X comes with its own built-in features that lets you burn your data, and there are various ways of accessing it.

Today I am going to show you how to use native apps on Mac OS X, more specifically Burn Folders to burn your data. Here is how it works:

  • From Finder go to File > New Burn Folder (Command + Shift + B)
  • Name your Folder, then drag and drop the files you want to burn.
  • Press the “Burn” button on the top right corner.

By far thats the easiest and fastest way of burning files I have come across. Enjoy!

Tweet And Share Faster with Safari140

Posted: June 26th, 2009 | Author:

Most of the people nowadays are using third party applications (most popularly tweetdeck) in order to tweet, and it makes sense because they offer much more customizable interfaces and have the ability of various functions such as shortening urls and easy sharing of pictures. While these applications are great for keeping track of your timeline, yet, I personally don’t like the idea of keeping a separate window open all the time. Not to mention the idea of sharing a link by typing in the title and then shortening the url is just too annoying. When it comes to sharing a link, I want to do it with the press of a button and a click.

Safari140 is the extension for Safari that I am talking about.

Supported by Safari 3,4 and a popular RSS reader Newsfire, Safari140 is a tiny and quick add-on which helps you tweet and more specifically share links in a snap.

After you install Safari140 you gain a new option under Files menu named “Post to Twitter”, which is also accessible via the shortcut key CTRL+T. The first time you use Safari140 you are prompted for your Twitter credentials; keep in mind that there are no preferences for Safari140 at the moment, so if you want to switch the account you’ll have to run a Terminal command.

When you pop up Safari140, it automatically pulls the title of the page you are at and then links to that page shortened via tr.im url shortening service, ready for your to tweet. Of course you can add your own message beside the tweet. Also a built in character counter makes sure you stay within the 140 character limit.

In order to get rid of Safari140 or any other Input Manager you have to point to your system’s library folder, then to InputManagers folder and delete the unwanted files.

Transl8it is a cool website you can use to convert your text, SMS, emoticon, smiley, slang or chat room lingo into plain English or the other way around by typing your English phrase to convert it to lingo slang!

This site comes really handy when you want to send a SMS text message or a tweet and can’t fit all of the words you want to say. Not to mention it would be more useful to the parents who don’t understand what their son is talking about after checking his chat history!

Everyone remembers the Spirograph toy which is in shape of a gear with tiny holes to stuck your pencil in and then draw different patterns by moving your pencil around the gear on your paper. The patterns varies depending on size and which hole you use in the gear.

Myoats is a very simple and functional site that you can use to create your own pictures based on the same idea and then you can download them on various formats and sizes to use on your desktop or even on your iphone.

Myoats is a community where people make their own designs which can be downloaded, ranked and even featured on the homepage based on user rankings. It has a very functional flash application built in the website to help you create your designs.

Its very fun to use with no limitations on functionality. You can change your pencil size, intensity and even opacity to get the best results.

Besides all this, you can also check out the already made designs by other people in the community and download the ones you like. There are actually really good stuff you can find there for free. Its really cool!
