Not too long ago we reported about a spam clickjacking the Facebook “Like” button. The spammer used a genius technique of hiding the “Like” button behind a line of text that uninformed users would mistake for a normal link. By doing so the users unknowingly “Liked” the spam page.
Another round of similar scam has been spreading virally over Facebook. When clicked, users are tricked by a warning message claiming the page they are about to access contains content “inappropriate for some users” and that it “may contain shocking graphics, nudity or disrespect other individuals.” The warning message is designed to look like an official warning from Facebook.

We have seen a lot of advertisers making creative ads for YouTube. The most famous being the Old Spice guy who posted almost 200 videos, each one customized for people asking questions in different places across social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Reddit.
Today I came across a very creative advertising by Tipp-Ex on their YouTube page. Tipp-Ex is a brand that produces correction fluids and is very popular in Europe. They promote their product in a video where a hunter almost shoots a bear, except that he doesn’t and instead picks up the correctional fluid on the right side of the page to erase the “shoots” part from the title of the video “A hunter shoots a bear”. And then you are given the option to write anything with your keyboard and then press the play button next to it to see a related video based on what you typed.

“Smoking Hot Bartenders” is a recent spam spreading like wild fire on Facebook. Obviously the site is spam where a user is required to fill in a form (i.e. offer) in order to access “Smoking Hot Bartender” pictures.
The spam uses a genius technique with which a user even if you decline to fill in the form and close the window will be vulnerable.
If you take a look at the site cutebabesbartending.info you will see how this viral scheme is being executed. The first thing you see when you land on the site (most likely from Facebook where you are already logged in) is a picture of some hot girls and a link to click through. The updated page does not have a link and you cannot scroll down the page (They are probably using a Javascript code to force you to remain scrolled up), naturally you will click the picture when you can’t do anything else. The key to the scheme on the previous version of the page was in the link.

Now you can tweet your sound files and recordings with Chir.ps the same way you would tweet your pictures with Twitpic.
This excellent utility will let you record your voice right from your browser, play it (only if you want to), add your 120 letter description (the other 20 letters are reserved for the shortened link to your recording) and tweet it to your followers.

After the death of the pop star Michael Jackson a week ago, rumors have been arising regarding his faith, some say he embraced Islam while others declare that these reports are invalid. There are no comments heard from his family neither has been there any announcements regarding his funeral and burying arrangements, but there are certainly speculations that he might be buried in accordance to Islamic tradition.
There are a few clues that Michael Jackson had perhaps converted to Islam:
- Famous media outlets including Telegraph and NY Post published news confirming that Michael Jackson had converted to Islam last November and had changed his name to Mikaeel.
- Michael Jackson’s brother, Jermaine Jackson has been a muslim for the past 20 years and has publicly spoken of  his faith. When announcing his brother’s death, Jermaine commented, “May Allah be with you, Michael, always.”
- In 2005-06, Jackson spent nearly a year living in the Muslim country of Bahrain.
However, there are signs that perhaps these assumptions are misleading. Several muslims believed to be present at his conversion ceremony have clearly made statements including that they were not present at his conversion ceremony, in fact, they have never even met the singer.
The Canadian Muslim singer Dawud Wharnsby Ali posted on his blog the following clarification:
Though our professional circles did cross-over slightly with various common professional acquaintances – I never had the honour or pleasure of meeting Michael Jackson personally, nor did we ever correspond on matters of our professions, personal lives or faiths.
Singer Yusuf Islam (aka Cat Stevens) also posted a statement:
Contrary to persistent press rumours, I was not at any kind of conversion ceremony for Michael Jackson.
His faith can only be confirmed through his burial process if it is in accordance to the Islamic tradition. His body has been taken to a private funeral home and his funeral arrangements remain confidential. If his family indeed believes that he was a muslims he shall be buried in accordance to Islamic traditions.

Most of the people nowadays are using third party applications (most popularly tweetdeck) in order to tweet, and it makes sense because they offer much more customizable interfaces and have the ability of various functions such as shortening urls and easy sharing of pictures. While these applications are great for keeping track of your timeline, yet, I personally don’t like the idea of keeping a separate window open all the time. Not to mention the idea of sharing a link by typing in the title and then shortening the url is just too annoying. When it comes to sharing a link, I want to do it with the press of a button and a click.
Safari140 is the extension for Safari that I am talking about.
Supported by Safari 3,4 and a popular RSS reader Newsfire, Safari140 is a tiny and quick add-on which helps you tweet and more specifically share links in a snap.
After you install Safari140 you gain a new option under Files menu named “Post to Twitter”, which is also accessible via the shortcut key CTRL+T. The first time you use Safari140 you are prompted for your Twitter credentials; keep in mind that there are no preferences for Safari140 at the moment, so if you want to switch the account you’ll have to run a Terminal command.
When you pop up Safari140, it automatically pulls the title of the page you are at and then links to that page shortened via tr.im url shortening service, ready for your to tweet. Of course you can add your own message beside the tweet. Also a built in character counter makes sure you stay within the 140 character limit.
In order to get rid of Safari140 or any other Input Manager you have to point to your system’s library folder, then to InputManagers folder and delete the unwanted files.
